Three New British Designers

Back to News 02/04/2009

Inkerman has been supporting British leather makers, silversmiths, pewterers and British designers for the past 12 years now including the well known David Redman, David Linley and William Yeoward.

We wanted to thank our clients for all their support so asked them if they knew anyone who they would like to see us supporting and whose designs they would like to see us working with. The response we had was impressive and we can now introduce our new product from the three we chose:

Steve Mayes - Photographer

Steve is an architectural and landscape photographer, he set up his photography business in 2001 selling his work at a market stall in Tynemouth in Newcastle. He is now an associate of the BIPP (British Institute of Professional Photography) and carries out commission work for architects, property developers and other firms involved in the built environment. For Inkerman, Steve produces prints from his range in black frames and is available for special commission photography.

Antonia Coleman - Jeweller and Silversmith

Antonia's silversmithing, precious and semi-precious jewellery and keen eye when gazing through the viewfinder of her camera are all a result of being brought up in a beautiful part of Kent. Her passion for texture can be seen in much of her work and many of her pendants are in fact cast from originals rather than replicas. She has undertaken many comissions for private clients for instance, goblets, bowls, pill boxes and dishes. Her range of silver jewellery is a great addition to our range.

Kathryn Pearce - Glass Design

Kathryn has been working as a professional glassmaker for over 5 years and exhibits extensively throughout the UK and Ireland.  She set up her studio in Cumbria in 2004, and now lives and works on the west coast of Scotland. Her work comprises a contemporary collection of free-blown glass inspired by colour and light. Alongside her functional glassware ranges she produces gifts, awards, sculptural work, installations and architectural glass panels. Her Saturn range of bowls is a welcome addition to the Inkerman selection.

We have found that people are starting to be more conscious of who they are doing business with; they are beginning to support smaller, local companies rather than the multinational conglomerates which is excellent news for us as a small British business and has meant that our marketing shift has changed to reflect the new customer requirements. We have always been small and British, but now is the time to shout about it.
