As the summer sun returns to Sussex, anticipation builds for one of the highlights of the British flat racing calendar – the Qatar Goodwood Festival, affectionately known as “Glorious Goodwood.” With a rich tapestry of sport, style, and tradition, this iconic event stands as a symbol of quintessential British elegance. And for the eighth consecutive year, Inkerman is proud to be part of the story, once again serving as the official trophy supplier to this celebrated festival.
First held in 1802, the Qatar Goodwood Festival has evolved from an exclusive gentleman’s meeting into one of the crown jewels of British flat racing. With over two centuries of racing history behind it, the event blends aristocratic tradition with sporting excellence, all set against the stunning backdrop of the South Downs.
A Partnership Built on Tradition and Craftsmanship
This year, we are honoured to provide over 100 bespoke trophies across the five-day event, each designed and crafted to reflect the prestige and heritage of both Goodwood and Inkerman.
Our continued partnership with the Qatar Goodwood Festival is more than just a collaboration – it’s a meeting of shared values: heritage, quality, and British excellence. As a proudly British brand, Inkerman draws inspiration from the deep traditions of craftsmanship and design that have defined our culture for centuries.
Crafted in Britain, Celebrated Worldwide
Each Inkerman trophy is a product of collaboration with British manufacturers and skilled craftsmen, many of whom are experts in traditional techniques such as silversmithing, glassblowing, and engraving. The result is not merely a trophy, but a work of art, imbued with meaning, beauty, and enduring value.
From gleaming silver cups to intricately etched glassware, every piece represents our commitment to sustainable sourcing, ethical production, and the enduring spirit of British design. These are not just trophies – they are heirlooms, destined to be treasured by their recipients for years to come.
The horses etched around many of the trophies are inspired by the famous painting by George Stubbs entitled ‘Racehorses exercising at Goodwood’ (1759-60). It hangs in the front hall of Goodwood House and depicts the Duchess of Richmond, Richard Buckner (the estate steward) and Lady George Lennox, watching three horses exercising, hooded and blanketed in the Richmond livery. The spire of Chichester Cathedral can be seen in the background with the Isle of Wight beyond. The three horses were the inspiration behind the Goodwood racecourse logo.
A Festival that captures the Spirit of Summer
Known for its stunning setting, impeccable style, and thrilling races, the Qatar Goodwood Festival attracts horse racing enthusiasts and style connoisseurs from around the world. At the heart of the festival lies a celebration of excellence – on the track, in fashion, and in tradition. Inkerman is proud to contribute to that legacy by honouring the triumphs of both horses and humans with trophies that reflect the grandeur of their achievements.
Since Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club became the title sponsor in 2015, the festival has seen a significant rise in international prominence. The partnership has elevated prize money, attracted top-tier global racing talent, and firmly positioned Glorious Goodwood among the most prestigious meetings in the global flat racing calendar.
Qatar’s presence is also felt on the track, with Qatari-owned horses regularly competing in feature races such as the Sussex Stakes and the Goodwood Cup. The sponsorship not only deepens cultural ties but also highlights Qatar’s growing influence and commitment to excellence in the world of international sport.
What to Expect at the 2025 Qatar Goodwood Festival
Taking place from 29th July to 2nd August 2025, the festival will feature top-class flat racing, including the Goodwood Cup, Sussex Stakes, and Nassau Stakes. This year’s event promises more than ever, with style, sport, and heritage blending across five unforgettable days in West Sussex.
Looking Ahead
As we celebrate our eighth year of supplying trophies to Goodwood, we are reminded of the importance of partnerships rooted in shared passion and integrity. It is a privilege to see our creations presented on some of the sport’s most prestigious podiums, and to know that each trophy carries with it a story of skill, precision, and pride.
We look forward to another glorious week of racing, and to many more years of collaboration with Goodwood – a jewel in the crown of British sporting tradition.
